Obey the rules and laws of community. Staying inform of the issues and participation in government elections. Be respectful and helpful to your neighbors. Be responsible for your own actions.
“Love thy neighbor” is a good phrase that pops into my mind when I imagine what it means to be a good citizen. Respect and love each other in spite or even because of the differences.
I believe that a good citizen should be informed about local and national elections – who are the candidates and what they stand for. A good citizen is involved in their community in whatever way is personally meaningful to them.
Being a good citizen means staying engaged and informed. It means speaking out respectfully to hold leaders accountable. It means making sure all have a place at the table.
A good citizen participates in our democracy and actively encourages others to do the same. Good citizens not only vote in each and every election, but help register new voters, serve as poll-workers, and/or fight for democratic ideals.
