A good citizen understands how the government works in order to remain free. A good citizen does not hate the country but works to make it better by voting.
I think people being a good citizen is being an active member of society, and also holding people accountable. We live in a democracy and a democracy represents the people and we have a right to hold representatitives accountable.
An engaged citizen is a person who makes a commitment to serve the greater good by contributing to the community, voting, serving in local politics, and helping to improve society.
To be committed to public service. To understand that my success should contribute towards success in my community. To contribute towards the advancement of historically marginalized people and communities. To create opportunities for others.
Commitment to the values of the preamble of the Constitution – to justice, to ensure domestic tranquility, to provide for the common defense, and to promote the general welfare. If all citizens don’t uphold this social contract, our democracy suffers.
Being a good citizen means voting, as much as you can, for the candidates who have the best ideas and work ethic who will represent the interests of all of us.
