Itzel Perez Hernandez, an Advocacy Corps organizer with the American Friends Service Committee on National Legislation and Brookdale Community College alumna, will give a special presentation on September 27 highlighting the political history of DACA and Advance Parole, and how non-citizens have been and can be powerful actors in our democratic process.
The presentation is a collaboration between the Smithsonian planning committee, the campus club Dreamers+ and the International Center at BCC, held in conjunction with the “Voices and Votes” exhibit on display at BCC August 20-October 2.
Perez Hernandez is a graduate of New Jersey City University and passionate advocate for immigrants’ rights. She moved to the United States from Mexico with her family at age 10.
The event will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Monmouth Museum, Room CVA 114, on the BCC campus in Lincroft. In-person attendance is limited to 50, and additional attendees may join via Zoom.
