November 8 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
A Thanksgiving feast

NJCH is proud to support Piscataway Public Library’s “Food for Thought,” a series of events exploring the cultural and historical significance of food in our lives. This event will explore food and writing with author Rachelle Parker.

A Plate of Food, A Plate of Memory© A Food for Thought workshop led by Rachelle Parker

We when write about food, we remember ourselves, our family, our legacy. In this workshop, participants will take a seat at a table to consider the dishes, recipes and noshes that have kept us full from our first bite.

Reading will include poems and proseby notable poets. Rachelle Parker is a Lyrical Storyteller. She is the author of “Together We Remember The Gazelle,” the winner of the Digging Press Chapbook Series. She has won acclaim in several distinctions including a prestigious Pushcart Prize nomination, selected first place in the Furious Flower Poetry Prize. Rachelle is always in the beyond with what has been, what is and what should be.

The Food for Thought project was made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this event do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities or the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
