A Def Poetry Reunion: Featuring Roberto Lugo

DANNY SIMMONS PRESENTS A DEF POETRY JAM REUNION – FT. ROBERTO LUGO

Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is partnering with Def Poetry Jam to bring Roberto Lugo’s “Put Yourself In the Picture” vessel to life during an outdoor event. The title for this piece was plucked from a KRS One poem shared on Def Poetry Jam in 2011 (1:19 | 2:09). This powerful connection makes our partnership with Def Poetry all the more impactful.

GFS is working in partnership with artist, poet, author, and philanthropist Danny Simmons and artist, ceramicist, social activist, poet, and educator Roberto Lugo. Lugo will be one of the featured poets alongside 3-4 additional Def Poet alumni, primarily from Philadelphia and New York City. A panel of Def Poet Alumni will select 3-4 New Jersey poets to participate so the event is a blend of professional and regional performers. The evening will end with music presented by a DJ to close out the evening with time for attendees to gather and socialize.
