Purpose: To support facilitated discussions and dialogues for high school students about the impact of antisemitism, Holocaust denial, and racism on contemporary society, using a new play, “The Interpreter,” as a starting point.
The project will utilize a new play, The Interpreter, by award-winning playwright Joseph Vitale, as a starting point to engage high-school students in a facilitated discussion about antisemitism and holocaust denial, which are at alarming highs among young people.
The play, a 90-minute drama about the Nuremberg trials, will serve as a starting point for facilitated discussions and dialogues about the impact of antisemitism, Holocaust denial, and racism on contemporary society. Humanities discussants with backgrounds in Middle East affairs and Holocaust history will employ their expertise to help audiences of all ages process the distinctions and overlaps of antisemitism and disagreements with Israeli government policy.
