Award: Action / ($13,500)
Purpose: To conduct a broad examination of the Soul Line Dance culture and community in the New Jersey area through oral histories with dancers, choreographers, DJ’s, event producers and other practitioners.

In FACT, Inc. was awarded a grant to conduct a broad examination of the Soul Line Dance culture and community in the New Jersey through oral histories with dancers, choreographers, DJ’s, event producers and other practitioners. Partnering with Queen Nur, LLC the project was launched as part of the Widening the Path Project of the Library of Congress.

The completed collection, comprising more than 1,000 files, will be added to the LoC’s online collection and was celebrated at the LOC’s Jefferson Hall with a Soul Line Dance party in February 2025. More than 1,200 party-goers danced in the hall’s atrium on the day, which kicked off with a live appearance on Good Morning America.
