CNJG Response 77

What do you remember about the first time you voted?

My first election was Bush v Clinton. What was civic discourse and the ideals of the “old guard” as illustrated by then President Bush and that of a young Bill Clinton seemed to clash. But the friendship that grew from seeming policy divisions seems almost impossible at this moment.

CNJG Response 80

What are the main challenges facing democracy today?

So many! I think first and foremost income inequality combined by outsized influence of the wealthiest people and corporations. This couples with a divestment in community and people and deteriorating institutions at the community level.
