DCP Response 47

What are the main challenges facing democracy today?

DCP Response Card
Disinformation/ignorance. Rise of “Christian” nationalism. Laws that restrict free exercise of everyone’s rights to vote. A feeling of hopelessness/my vote doesn’t count.

DCP Response 52

What do you remember about the first time you voted?

DCP Response Card
It felt monumental. I was voting in the primaries for the 2016 election. I literally felt like I was helping shape the course of our country. My candidate lost – I voted Bernie – but you can see his influence today. I got to share my voice in a really important way.

DCP Response 53

What are the main challenges facing democracy today?

DCP Response Card
Militant nationalist Christians, politicians invested in turning back the times to ensure that women, people of color, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ communities, and anyone else seen as “other” is the biggest threat to democracy today. As the right to self autonomy is being chipped away, the right to abortion, marriage, health care and the right to vote is in danger of being stripped from us citizens.
