It is with sadness and sorrow that we share the news of the passing of NJCH Board of Trustees member and Rutgers University-Newark, School of Arts and Sciences Dean Jan Ellen Lewis. A highly respected scholar, educator, mentor, colleague, and friend to so many, Jan was a champion for the public humanities across our state for decades, and we are heartbroken by this profound loss. The Council benefited greatly from her considerable professional experience and desire to bring lifelong learning to the citizens of New Jersey. She will be deeply missed and long remembered.
