NJCH Joins the Future Ready New Jersey Coalition

November 13, 2025

Carin Berkowitz participates in a NJ Future Ready Coalition panel

The New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) is proud to join the newly launched Future Ready New Jersey Coalition, a cross-sector effort convened by the New Jersey Council of County Colleges to expand economic mobility and broad-based prosperity.

The coalition is calling for a bold statewide goal: 75 percent of New Jersey adults in the labor market holding a postsecondary degree or credential of value by 2040. Reaching that benchmark will require coordinated action across education, workforce development, business, labor, and community organizations.

For NJCH, this work aligns directly with the value of the humanities in preparing people not just for today’s jobs, but for a lifetime of change. Employers consistently seek graduates with strong critical thinking, clear communication, ethical reasoning, creativity, cultural awareness, and problem-solving skills—capacities that remain essential as technologies, industries, and roles evolve.

NJCH is proud to contribute its perspective to this statewide initiative, grounded in the belief that an equitable, prosperous future depends on education that develops the whole person. An official signing ceremony is planned for early December, with a coalition blueprint to be shared with state leaders in early 2026.
