NJCH-funded History Project Celebrated at Library of Congress and on GMA

March 14, 2025

“Community on the Line,” an oral and archival history project to document the Soul Line Dance Community in the New Jersey Area funded by an NJCH grant, was recently celebrated at the Library of Congress and on Good Morning America.

Partnering with Queen Nur, LLC, the project was launched as part of the Widening the Path Project of the Library of Congress.

The completed collection, comprising more than 1,000 files, will soon be added to the LoC’s online collection and was celebrated at the LOC’s Jefferson Hall with a Soul Line Dance party in February 2025.

More than 1,200 party-goers danced in the hall’s atrium on the day, which kicked off with a live appearance on Good Morning America.
