The New Jersey Council for the Humanities was featured in an article by the Federation of State Humanities Councils highlighting programs around the United States that are helping to expand our society’s understanding of history.
NJCH’s Community History Program is a deliberate effort to help center the histories of New Jersey communities that have gone untold. By providing learning sessions, professional expertise, and funding to community-based organizations, the program empowers New Jersey communities to leverage public humanities work to document and share their stories.
“With an enhanced ability to document and disseminate, communities are shedding brighter light on the multiplicity of perspectives that connect us; telling new iterations of old stories; and questioning dominant cultural and historical narratives,” the article reads.
