In 2021, NJCH will launch a new initiative to explore civic life and democracy in America ahead of the 50th anniversary of the founding of our organization in 2022 and the country’s 250th anniversary in 2026. On the day before the inauguration of the nation’s next president, we invite you to join us for a discussion about what democracy means to you, what opportunities and challenges you see for your organization in engaging with civic life at this moment in time, and how NJCH can best support you in the coming years as we strive to create the society envisioned in the founding of the United States.

Our approach to our work is more responsive, rather than prescriptive. Our goal is to create opportunities that benefit and serve our program partners. In this spirit, we are hosting a digital event that focuses on interaction, not presentation. Democracy: A Conversation About Why It Matters will be a long-form Q&A, using participant questions as the basis for discussion for the entire program, rather than confining questions to the last few minutes of the program. As such, we are requesting that all registrants to submit a question or specific topic you’ve been pondering about democracy and civic engagement. You will be able to submit your question/comment via the Eventbrite registration.

This format is a new approach; please join us in our efforts to convene this kickoff conversation. Your participation will contribute to the shape of our upcoming initiative.
