Vivekananda Vidyapith, Inc.
Vivekananda Vidyapith aims to archive a vast trove of materials documenting its 50 years of cultural contributions in Wayne, as well as recording the oral and video histories of its community to preserve the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Indian diaspora for future generations.
For 50 years, Vivekananda Vidyapith has provided cultural and spiritual education to the Indian diaspora in New Jersey. The organization joined the cohort to learn professional methods for archiving their own half-century of history, which includes music, lectures, and children’s magazines, and to preserve the legacy of Swami Vivekananda’s 1893 arrival in America.
Its project will catalog and digitize 50 years of video recordings—including student presentations, cultural celebrations, and lectures—to preserve the history of this spiritual and character-building academy founded in 1976, making its archives searchable for future generations.
