TRUE Mentors empowered Hoboken youth to help shape the historical narrative. Partnering with the Hoboken Historical Society and the Rutgers Filmmaking Department, TRUE MENTORS educated their youth about the troubling history of low-income residents in Hoboken, including the devastating Hoboken Fires, and provided them with training on journalism and documentary filmmaking. With their newfound resources and skills, the youth created a collaborative documentary film about their community’s history. Once completed, their film will be showcased to the community at a local theatre.
