Preserve Shady Rest Committee

The guest speakers, our fellow cohort members, and past cohort contributors have stretched our thinking and challenged our organization to think bigger and do better.”
By setting up opportunities for community members to share their stories via message boards and interviews, the Preserve Shady Rest Committee learned more about the rich history of their Golf & Country Club, including the Clubhouse’s ties to Black culture and jazz history, as well as the community’s interest in preserving this history and making it known to the broader public. After participating in Community History, Preserve Shady Rest applied for and was awarded an Incubation Grant from NJCH to continue its work through the initiation of a master plan.
