Lawnside Historical Society will collect and analyze community memories juxtaposed with the governmental institutional plan for the New Jersey Turnpike path through Lawnside. The Turnpike was built in 1951. Turnpike construction had a drastic impact on the community of Lawnside, including the displacement of 27 families. This project will marshal individuals and organizations with an interest in the topic, especially in the context of impending expansion of the Turnpike which will have a direct impact on residents, commuters, and businesses.
