Interfaith Neighbors

With a strong focus on Springwood Avenue, once the thriving cultural and economic heart of Asbury Park’s African American community, the group aims to integrate history into neighborhood revitalization and cultural tourism.
Interfaith Neighbors is a community-focused organization dedicated to neighborhood revitalization and the amplification of marginalized voices. Building on its prior work in digital history, the organization is seeks to deepen its skills in public history, oral history, and heritage work. With a strong focus on Springwood Avenue, once the thriving cultural and economic heart of Asbury Park’s African American community, the group aims to integrate history into neighborhood revitalization and cultural tourism.
Its work will aim to preserve the memories and amplify the voices of residents whose stories have too often been overlooked, including senior citizens who remember Springwood Avenue’s heyday, youth who are shaping its future, and immigrant residents who contribute to its evolving identity.
