Bloomingdale Public Library aims to capture the history and impact of the library through firsthand accounts and historical materials. They are especially interested in learning more about the first 50 years of the library’s history, otherwise known as “the mystery years” due to the lack of information about this formative period of the library’s existence. By documenting diverse sources, the project will create a comprehensive archive that highlights the library’s evolution, its role in the community, and the experiences of those who contributed to its development and success, including that of the library’s female founder.
