DCP Content Guidelines
The Democracy Conversation Project digital collection is meant to be a brave space where people may share their experiences and personal opinions without fear of retribution from others. We honor the multitude of life experiences of our neighbors and hope this page will reflect the wide diversity of viewpoints held by all New Jerseyans.
By submitting and uploading content to the site, you grant NJCH a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid up, transferable license (with the right to sublicense) to host, store, use, display, reproduce, create derivative works of, modify, adapt, edit, publish, and distribute your content in connection with NJCH business for all purposes permitted by law. You also grant each user a non-exclusive, worldwide license to access your content through the site and to use such content as permitted through the functionality of the site. To the extent permitted by applicable laws, you waive any moral rights or similar rights you may have in any user content.
Posting and Sharing Content
NJCH will review all submitted content and reserves the right to refuse to post or remove, without notice to you, any content that NJCH deems, in its sole discretion, abusive, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, in violation of copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights, to be in violation of this agreement or to be unacceptable to NJCH, for any reason or for no reason whatsoever; provided, however, that NJCH shall have no obligation or liability to you for failure to do so or for doing so in any particular manner.
If NJCH receives notice of any claim of infringement that satisfies specific legal requirements, such as notice and takedown requirements under U.S. copyright law, NJCH may remove videos associated with such claim. All content submitted to DCP must be the original thoughts or work of the person submitting, used with permission, or properly attributed.
Any and all content that you submit (e.g. by uploading or transmitting) is and will remain your property from the moment of creation. We do not claim ownership of any user content.
At any point, you have the right to request to remove your content from within the NJCH site.
Content submitted through DCP does not reflect the views of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH) or the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). In no event shall NJCH have or be construed to have any responsibility or liability for or in connection with any of the content submitted through DCP.
Content Guidance
Please select ONE of the four prompts provided and submit a response to that specific question. Your submission can take several different forms, including written text, video, audio, image. All files must subscribe to the size guidelines included in the upload form.
Submissions may be edited by NJCH for length or content.
All video submissions will be uploaded to YouTube and linked on the NJCH website. Please be sure to read and consider the terms of video publication on YouTube and your own comfort with this process.
Accessibility
Video and audio submissions should be no more than 1-2 minutes in length and audible to the greatest degree possible. This will assist the development of closed captioning. Record in a quiet place and consider recording a practice submission to assess the quality of your microphone and recording environment before submitting.
Video, audio, and image uploads may be given a description and/or closed captioned when shared. For further information about NJCH’s approach to accessibility, please visit https://njhumanities.org/accessibility/.
