DESCRIPTION:Join coLAB Arts at the 2025 Natya Darpan Theater Festival for Shiv’s Project\, a verbatim play written by Dan Swern and directed by Arpita Mukherjee\, exploring generational perspectives and mental health challenges in New Jersey’s South Asian community through oral histories with the family\, friends\, and mentors of 14-year-old Shiv Kulkarni\, who died by suicide in 2021. \nThe creation of the play was supported by an NJCH grant to coLab Arts. \nTickets for the theater festival cover admission to all festival performances. SUMMARY:Food for Thought: Korean Cooking
DESCRIPTION:NJCH is proud to support Piscataway Public Library’s “Food for Thought\,” a series of events exploring the cultural and historical significance of food in our lives\, through an Action Grant. \n— \nTaste of Korea: Korean Cuisine\, Full of Wisdom and Nature \nIn this event\, participants will learn about the health benefits of Korean food\, and two dishes will be demonstrated. After the demonstration\, a home-cooked full Korean meal with a traditional table setting in Bangjja bronzeware will be served\, and a short film on Korean culture will be screened. In addition\, recipes and complimentary other books on Korean history and culture will be distributed. \nThis event is part of our Food for Thought event series. \nThe Food for Thought project was made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities\, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
