What are the main challenges facing democracy today?

What are the main challenges facing democracy today?

DCP Response Card
The main challenges facing democracy today would be the lack of diversity in power. Compared to history, there is more people from any race, class, gender now than before. But still, in positions of power are largely the people who benefit and have benefited from the structures of power, while who are marginalized or spoken over are filling less spaces or are in smaller positions of power. More vantage points will benefit more people living where they live.
