Juneteenth Celebration

FREE to the public and family friendly!

Celebrate Juneteenth – when enslaved African Americans in the South finally gained freedom after the Civil War in 1865 – on the Morristown Green and at the Church of the Redeemer, South Street, Morristown.

Talk with costumed interpreters from Union Troops and Colored Troops. Get creative with Emancipation Day art activities. Listen to stories and songs of freedom from noted performers Kim and Reggie Harris. Learn more about how and why African Americans celebrated this holiday.

Free shuttle between Speedwell Village, Morris Plains Civil War Encampment and Morristown Green from 12:45pm – 5:30pm

Free shuttle between parking at Bethel AME Church-Morristown Green-Church of the Redeemer, Morristown from 12:45pm – 9:30pm

Event continues 5pm – 9pm at Church of the Redeemer, Morristown with more activities, food, and an outdoor movie

Wheelchair accessible. Sign interpretation available with 2 weeks’ notice.
